My daughter is 8.5 months old, and for pretty much her entire life, she's been taking naps ON ME. I would like to change this habit so that she can be a little more independent in her sleep, and so that I can actually get shit done while she sleeps. Here are some complicating factors:
- She sleeps in a crib at daycare, although the workers there have made it sound like she has to cry herself down.
- She's only taking one nap a day at daycare, which, from every weekend's indication, is NOT enough, so she has a tendency to come home and sleep all evening. On me.
- I am not interested in suggestions to do CIO.
- We're bedsharing at night. Our bed is not very high, but she doesn't know how to get out of it herself yet. Can I just nurse her to sleep in the bed, surround her with pillows, and turn on the baby monitor?
- She has a crib. It's mostly used for sorting her laundry so far.
So, how does your baby nap? Have you had to transition away from them napping on you? How did you do it?
I'm putting the backstory in a comment, so that people are free to answer without reading all of the GABYAW details.
Thanks in advance!
