How do you feel about the “My baby” remarks?
Post Body

I’m so torn… On one hand, I love that people are so welcoming and warm to my child. They want to hold her, take care of her, be supportive of us. Great!

On the other hand, their comments are just… annoying. Specifically these:

LO is crying for whatever reason. “Who’s pinching my baby?”

“Oh! There’s my baby!”

“My baby looks so adorable today!”

And so on…

It’s a peeve. Like, really? She isn’t Your baby.

And it’s difficult to even know how to get them to stop without sounding petty. Obviously they know my LO isn’t THEIR baby. I’d be silly to bluntly point it out! Right?

Comments

when i was an infant and pre-school teacher i remember we would all have to try hard to not say it because like obviously it’s obnoxious and rude but it would always be a little hard to not use pet names and stuff when you get so attached to the kids, especially the ones that you’re with for 40 hours a week. i’m sure if i was a parent i would be annoyed but at least your child is well loved, (at least the kids in my class were!)
