So our nanny is young and has been watching our baby about 3 months. Within the past three weeks, Iâve let her start taking her to the park and music classes as my baby is BORED at home. Partially because the nanny is so quiet and unengaging imo.
Anyways, the nannyâs timeline hasnât really been adding up so I randomly put an AirTag in our diaper bag. It alerted my husband so I wasnât too concerned. I figured sheâd see the alert. Of course, today she walks out of the house (Iâve told her to text) and I texted and said âAre you leaving? Let me know the plans:)â to which she replied they were headed to the park. Theyâd be gone over an hour and I opened the app to just see if they made it. They were in a shopping center about 20 mins and completely different neighborhood - out of the way I might add. I could tell she was likely picking up lunch and Starbucks but it meant theyâd been there for AWHILE. Pretty soon, the diaper bag started moving and they headed to the park. The whole route meant my baby was in the car seat/stroller about 1 hour and 20 mins⌠and only had about 40 mins of park time before being put back into the car for nap⌠not to mention she didnât tell me she was going to take her somewhere else. We live in LA and thereâs plenty to eat near the park and surrounding area.
When she got home, I asked how everything went and she didnât mention it at all. She said it was good and she took her out in the stroller. My baby is newly crawling and doesnât do long in the stroller so I was annoyed but didnât say anything. I did have to address another issue because the nanny didnât bring enough formula and fed my baby a bad formula bottle. When asking her about the time of feeds, the nanny omitted the shopping center and said they arrived at the park around 11:50am (when in fact it was 1pm).
I was livid, but my husband doesnât feel like itâs too big a deal. Just that she needs to tell us where she is and she canât be hanging out with friends. But I feel like the omissions make me not trust her. Am I an asshole for this? She really did probably just pick up lunch - although the thought process behind it was poorly planned and way too out of the way. The purpose was to go to the park.
EDIT: she also takes my car to do this big round trip nonsense aka my gas
Nope. New nanny time I would have got a new one the moment I thought about using an air tag tbh
