Marion told Gene that she was going to call the police on him. I don’t get why Gene didn’t just come clean about the scams he has been running with Jeff, and say something along the lines of “if I go down, Jeff is coming with me.” Jeff would be facing upwards of 20 years, all things considered. I think this tactic would have effectively silenced Marion, as she wouldn’t want to see her Jeffy in lockup for the rest of her life.

Against a lawyer, this tactic wouldn’t work because Jeff could simply offer up the infamous Saul Goodman to law enforcement in exchange for immunity. But against a scared old lady like Marion? I’m willing to bet that she wouldn’t have thought of something like that and Gene would’ve been home free.

Maybe he just panicked? He actually considered strangling her rather than using what has typically been his greatest asset: his mouth. Just wondering what your thoughts are.
