Treating fungal with salt

Howdy folks, So my gf needs to treat a betta with salt and I heard that the intense route for medication is 1 Tbsp of salt for every 1 gallon. After this are you supposed to acclimate said sick fish Into the salty water and just let him chill for 24hrs before a 100% water change and re-dose salt into the water? Then just repeat? Is this right or am I a pine cone?
