Not sure what to do next? Lol
I’ve been doing a fisheless cycle in a 8gallon tank since the August 8. I added Dr Tim’s ammonia and got a reading of 4 ppm ammonia. For the next 12 days I added stability and I kept measuring everyday. Eventually saw nitrite and nitrates on the same day. I gradually saw my ammonia decrease and everything else increased. I’m not math savvy so I’m not sure I understand the proportions of how they should be decreasing and increasing.
Last night ammonia read 0.25ppm. Nitrite was 2ppm. And my nitrates were almost 40ppm. So I added 8 drops in the hopes that it would read 2ppm today in order to keep the bacteria fed.
I just measured and my ammonia is fully 0. Nitrites got very purple so I’m assuming 5ppm. And nitrates are still almost 40ppm.
What should I do next? I’m torn in doing a partial water change to lower the nitrite and then add more ammonia. Or should I just let it wait out? Or just add some more ammonia?
