Weird chat layout

So the new chat layout is rather bulky and useless. The update didn't improve it, but just added to the space it takes up. As frustrating as it is to me on the desktop version, my bf is even less fond of the mobile display. Seems like a lot of reddit controls and features keep getting bigger and clunkier.
