Ugh it's so true and it's such a hard lesson to learn before you've had the time to actually learn it.
When I was young, love felt like this raging wildfire that burned through my whole body. It was incredible and it made me not care that it was burning through everything around me. As I got older, I learned to value the kind of love that's more like a bed of coals after a big campfire. That kind of persistent but not overwhelming warmth that's unassuming and not intrusive but just always there.
