I will be starting a PhD at Berkeley in the fall, but I need to take a summer class that begins June 26. As I am married, I applied for a University Village apartment in mid-April. From what I can tell, the prices are so dramatically cheaper than anywhere else in the city that I will find a temporary housing situation until I am cleared off the waitlist if it comes to that.
Does anyone have any insight about just how terrible the waitlist for this housing is? I don't have any kids so may be lower priority. I was accepted into my program off a waitlist so wasn't able to even sign up for housing until pretty late in the game. Moving in June 1 would be my ideal, but that seems highly unlikely at this point.
Is a move-in date before June 26 a reasonable hope? Or are my wife and I going to be living in hotels and AirBnBs until mid-fall?
