Who here would be interested in a weekly, Non-Step-Based, Benzodiazepine (Zoom) meeting? Professionally trained Facilitator with personal experience in Benzo addiction & Harm Reduction. Please read and consider.
Post Body

I have a strong feeling based on those I’ve spoken to, and the 12Step meetings I’ve managed to attend, that a lot of us with this problem do not feel so comfortable going to meetings and trying to find others with similar adversities. I myself struggle with this, and Id bet some of you do to. Now I know as much as the next person how fucking difficult it can be to both A) Make time in the day for something like this and B) Talk about the personal issues faced when dealing with this horrid experience. Also, a lot of us are busy; and it’s almost the case that when a random Redditor making a post in a random Subreddit trying to make some sort of of Thing happen - It Doesn’t Happen. Not looking to create a big thing here:

————————

A.) Only requirement for being present is increasing contemplation of the stopping the use of Benzodiazepines.

B.) 45-60 minute, structured Zoom call, Facilitated by professional Therapist (Me). The call may include a Topic Discussion, Testimony, or ‘Free Talk’. It’s simply a chance to talk about your shit.

C.) Verbal Participation is NOT required; join the zoom, turn off your video/mic and simply listen to others if that’s what you care to do.

Other ideas for the group are welcome; please feel free to DM or add to the comments.

Im fairly confident this could be a great way for some of the people who are on r/benzorecovery to voice their issues more specifically, with a better sense of community feedback. I for one, could Also use some pals in my life who Actually get the reality of this predicament!

So. My name is Tyler Guest, I am a professional Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, with experience as a Case Manager at a harm reduction Methadone clinic. I have personal experience with Benzodiazepine use, withdrawal and recovery; and I see no reason why the community of r/benzorecovery Shouldn’t have available a Non-Step, Non-Religious, weekly meeting to help ourselves along.

What do you think?

TL;DR - Who wants a non-12 step zoom meeting, with a moderator, to vent their benzo frustrations to people who actually understand Specific Benzo stuff.
