My aunt is a doctor who used to work in family medicine, but now works in emergency. I told her about taking Alprazolam/ Xanax 2mg (0.5/0.5/1mg daily), and she was like WTF are you taking that for?
After explaining that I was prescribed it by a doctor, in another country, for panic attacks, she understood, but said I need to get off it and use it only as an SOS. She gave me a tapering schedule that would get me off it in a month.
Personally, I was dubious when she gave me the tapering schedule. I was on Clonazepam/ Klonopin 2mg before Alprazolam and went one week without it. A week of HELL! I had symptoms I had never thought possible.
I know there is general tapering guide made years ago to get off benzos. But have any of you got off Alprazolam in a month?
Context - Alprazolam - I've been on the Alprazolam regimen for maybe 4/5 months. Clonazepam - I was prescribed Clonazepam 2mg daily by my doctor about 2 years ago.
Has anyone been able to get off Alprazolam without withdrawal symptoms? If anyone has experienced withdrawal symptoms, what were they?
Thanks
Edit - I reread my aunt's tapering guide and it's actually 7 weeks, not 4. Gotta love good old ADHD forgetfulness 🤣
