Does Cold Turkey Eventually Heal

Post Body

Have been active here for about 3 months now, some ups and downs. I quit 3mg of Eszopiclone cold turkey on my psychiatrist's recommendation. So, yeah, three months out. I'm a functional human being but still quite slow.

Had a cognitive exam two days ago administered by a neuropsych, and while I haven't received the results yet, I was impaired during it -- so much more difficult than the last one I did years ago for other reasons. Have tons of cognitive symptoms still - everything from worsened peripheral vision, slower thinking, thoughts cutting out, difficulty understanding abstractions, worsened memory (working, short-term and long-term) language -- list goes on and on. Just generally a much less bright, less intelligent version of my old self.

I've been reading about those who do not heal within a relatively short time, and it seems most were Cold Turkey cases. I remember when I came off I could not speak, understand human language whatsoever, and had such diminished cognitive awareness I barely felt human - my brain was a smooth brick wedged in my skull.

In short, do those who have Cold Turkeyed recover all of their cognitive faculties? My sleep is back to normal, my anxiety is back to normal - it feels like everything that should have to do with a GABA-Glutamate imbalance is back to normal except my reduced cognition, which makes me wonder if it's just flat-out structural or functional brain damage; cell death due to excitotoxicity.

Does anyone know, whether from researching literature on the matter or their own personal stories?

Thank you.
