working whilst tapering?

So I'm from the UK and am currently prescribed 20mg a day with reductions of 2mg every week with an extension to two weeks if necessary, anybody managed to hold down a job or successfully gain employment whilst doing this, can you be deemed "unfit for work?" any experiences?? As far as the doc is concerned its a 7 year daily addiction. Averaging 40mg a day roughly.. TIA
