What is a role of half life in general? For exaple take valium. It has up to 200 hours half life. That means it takes up to 1000 hours to leave system. But, its effects only lasts 6-8 hours. Then, how half life play a role in withdrawals? After 8 hours valium isnt active in cns and does not do anything to gaba A receptors. Yea, it is in blood but who cares? It doesnt do anything anymore. Why withdrawals of drugs are more likely to start after half life passed? If i am dependent on valium, 8 hours after taking my brain will crave to gaba supply, but withdrawals starts after up to 200 hours. Confused.
