First off, this is not anti-benzos or critical of anyone using them (prescribed, recreational, or whatever). The reality is that a lot of people have a really damn hard time getting off benzos and it’s not clear why some do and others don’t. We just need more info.
For that reason, I’m excited to share the opportunity to participate in a study that was born in the benzo recovery community. Folks in recovery helped to formulate the nature of the questions, provided input on survey design, and have been involved in each phase up to this post. The results of this study have the potential to greatly impact our scientific understanding of factors that enable post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) / benzo-induced neurological disfunction (BIND) and can open the door to new benzo recovery interventions.
If you’ve been through benzo withdrawal at least once before (even if you ended up back on them later), please consider spending 10-15 min completing this IRB-approved survey - it may have a much bigger impact than you expect! If you know others who are eligible, please share the link below.
