I just wanted to share this guy with you all. 5 years old and I just opened my home for him to join our family. He is a bit timid and was isolated to one room in a home where he lived previously for years. He is very very sweet, loves belly rubs and pets.
So far we have been working on getting him a little more active, he a tiny bit overweight. I'm using a cat tunnel and stick and string toys, laser pointer, bell balls and mice, getting him running and jumping a bit. He has a 8 ft tall cat tree that seems to be his favorite place to chill.
It's been so lovely watching him start to feel more and more comfortable here and start to have a fuller cat life.
You guys think I can get a 5 year old on a harness and leash? He tries to follow me outside all the time at night but we are still working on getting him used to the harness indoors, so far it's been a bit unpleasant for him, so I'm taking it slow.
I previously owned a Maine coon for about 16 years who passed away just prior to us meeting Okey Dokey. So it's very different having an adult cat vs my elderly cat. I just want him to have the fullest cat life, any advice for a new owner?
