The 6-month residency rule for tax purposes
Post Body

Hello everyone,

I am currently a resident of Belgium, having spent more than 6 months of the current fiscal year in the country. I have just been offered a job in the UK, which I would like to accept. However, I am aware that Belgium has a law whereby once you've resided in Belgium for more than 6 months, you pay taxes on your global income in Belgium. I was wondering if the same applies to past residents. In other words, should I leave Belgium and deregister from my local commune before starting to work in the UK, will I still be liable to pay taxes on my UK income in Belgium, until the end of the year?
