Passive Investment advice for a newbie here
Post Body

Hello All,

Sorry for writing in English as my Dutch isn’t thay good yet. I was told that this would be the right sub this kind of question.

I moved to the Netherlands and want to get into investing (passive, long term) When I was in the US I used Betterment (robo advisor) where I could select stocks vs bonds ratio and it would automatically invest for me in ETFs/bonds accordingly. It was not complicated and I loved it but I couldn’t find anything like that here (if you know please let me know). I came across Finax and it looks almost like Betterment but it’s based out of Slovakia so I don’t know if it is available here. Does anyone have any experience with them?

After looking at options I found 2 choices - ABN and Degiro. I have read a bunch of posts and found that Degiro is less expensive and also provides some free ETFs but Below are some questions I have:

  1. I am fairly new, and don’t hold an EU/US passport. Will that cause an issue with Degiro?
  2. Is ABN better if at some point I may want to sell all investments or transfer them somewhere else?
  3. Which one is safer in terms of reliability?
  4. This may sound a bit silly but ABN has a couple of clear service options that they provide. I did not see that on Degiro. So how do I get started with it and which one is lower in effort?

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

Dank je wel!
