I have a theory that says that James is dead. Many people believe that you can see combat boots under Bella’s locked door, so i believe James was in the military and was killed overseas, possible before the library scene in Ep 8. Bella hallucinating James in the library would lead to her either being ordered by her boss or voluntarily attending a support group for grief, which could be where she met Jill, since Jills sister is also dead. Thats why Jill said she cant tell the Mc about James, and to lay off asking Bella about it. In the room are likely her husbands belongings that she cant convince herself to get rid of, including his military uniforms and medals
