While listening to today’s episode it struck me that a fair amount of history fits into something else I’ve learned from one Robert Evans. Robert said:

“There are two kinds of people who end up stuck in the mud in off-road driving. There’s the first who is for some reason stuck in the mud. Then there’s the other guys who see the first guy and think they can overcome the mud and end up stuck. Political leaders seem to be like the second type. Insofar as one “emperor” seeing how the Mexican people murder their first “emperor” and thinking they would be able to rule Mexico as an emperor. Afghanistan also comes to mind as an example of this sort of mud trap
