I don’t know if this is the right place to post this or if there are any more experienced runners on this subreddit but I need to know this so I’m gonna post this here. In no way am I trying to flex on anybody, just generally wondering.

I started running 2 weeks ago and I’m worried if I am progressing too fast. Since I started I have grown to really enjoy it and the positive feeling of accomplishment that comes with it. So of course during the first week I ran almost every morning. Starting with 10 minutes for the 1st couple days, 15 minutes the 3rd day, 20 minutes the 4th day, rested on the 5th day, 30 minutes the 6th day and 20 minutes for the 7th day. During the first week I was trying to see what I was capable of, pushing myself a little but not anything crazy. For the 2nd week I ran for 30 minutes, 3 days of the week. I learned that I was able to run 5k and the whole thing is very exciting to me considering I have never really been the athletic type(not a couch potato either). My PR for a 5k run is 27:22 and I read up that the male average is 31:18. I have only recorded my 5k runs twice now so I don’t have an average yet but I was really happy with that time when I learned what the male average was.

I have a good pair of running shoes and I make sure to do dynamic stretches before and static stretching afterwards to avoid injury. I want some opinions from experienced runners. Am I doing to much, should I slow down?
