Great to see this community. I am a beginner at running. I recently completed my first ever 5k run event!
I have been walking consistently (2-4 miles) daily since beginning of May. Came across the NRC app and did a guided run of 30 mins of "easy run". The pace was super slow, and I had to force myself to make sure I dont speed up. I am glad I didnt. My previous attempts at running over the years have not been successful because I start out at a fast pace, and then lose steam in about 5-10 mins.
I was super pumped at being able to run 35 mins without stopping. So much so, I signed up for a 5k event that was in 6 days!
I ran 3 practice 5k runs, again at a super slow speed with the objective of just finishing the run. I did 50 mins, 47mins & 46 mins.
On the event day, I was a bit nervous, but also confident that I can do it. I finished the 5k without stopping in 39 mins (my best so far). I am super excited and happy to have been able to do it.
I would like to continue doing this, but also dont want to make unintentional mistakes and get hurt. Any tips, recommendations etc is appreciated.
