TL;DR I'm overwhelmed with strength training so I end up on the elliptical.

I have a membership to planet fitness. When I started going there I would do the 30 minute circuit and some of the cardio stuff.
It became increasingly clear that the 30 minute circuit area isn't always available, actually it's usually not. I digress, since that is not the point of this post. The reason I brought the 30 minute circuit up is because I was confident doing that. I am not confident with all the machine options on the floor and often times I find it very overwhelming. An average trip to the gym consists of me walking around looking at all the things and ending just doing cardio, which is fine, because I hate it and need it, but I also need strength training too and I honestly do not know where to begin. Let's not even start with my brain weasels and the feeling that someone my size and shape shouldn't really, or doesn't deserve to be doing those kinds of exercises or being on those kinds of machines. I feel like they are there for people who are already in shape. Be aware that I know this is illogical thinking and it is not the truth on any level. Brain weasels are dumb.
