So, we took the new project out for a drive (second time this has happened). After driving for awhile we come around a corner, put it into second gear. All of a sudden the bug dies and no power. Won't even try to crank. You can start it by popping the clutch, but it won't start running.

After the first time, the next day it started right up. Tested the battery and it's just over 12V. The second time, as soon as we got it home, in tested the battery and it's just over 9v.

Do I have a battery issue, generator/alternator, or something else?

Appreciate all your thoughts. This is all new to us.
