I live in Las Vegas, and I have a somewhat serious problem with bees flying around my pool in the summer time. In the past I have bought bee traps from places like home depot, but have had literally zero success with them. I have never caught any bees with any trap that I have ever bought or constructed. When I tried to call a bee specialist in the area he basically told me that the bees are using my pool for water, and that after that after they scooped up some water the would make a "bee line" directly to their hive. If I could see what direction they fly off in then I would have a good indication of where the hive is located. Problem is that every time I watch a bee scoop some water and fly away it goes in a different direction. I have absolutely no idea which direction the hive is in, and even if I did it is definitely not on my property. I'm left wondering what can I do? Am I doomed to have to dodge 5-10 bees at a time, every time I want to go for a swim during the day? Is there a trap that Reddit could recommend that would actually work? PLEASE HELP!
