Hi all,
Basically, thanks to minor improvements to my mental and physical health (more the former), I can now spend a lot more time at my desktop PC than I could previously. So, more time to be productive -- woohoo!
I've done some transcription work for Scribie in the past, but even with an automated tool doing the bulk of the work, I calculated that I'd still be better off just doing surveys on InstaGC... which pays more for under 15 minutes per survey than spending up to an hour transcribing a Scribie file!
I've heard horror stories about Rev, so I'm not really considering them as a viable choice. Are there any companies/sites out there that follow their and Scribie's model (pick and choose a file, do the work, get graded/paid) that'd net me, at minimum, £10.00 a day? Or sites that allow you to pick assignments for something, do it, then get paid? I can spend hours grinding files at the moment due to not really having much else to do, except for playing OpenRA or Pharaoh/Cleopatra, heh.
I already use mTurk, UHRS/Clickworker, Fiverr (providing basic copy-editing and copy-writing), Prolific, and the major GPT sites. Textbroker... I'm not even sure it's worth applying due to the lengthy delays in being accepted or rejected.
And yes, I use Microworkers, too. :)
tl;dr: I have nothing but time, I want to make about £10.00--£33.00 per day doing something, even if it takes hours, but not anything like micro-tasks (e.g. mTurk, UHRS). Transcription sounds like my best bet to get a task, let me focus on getting it done, and then get paid. Suggestions are needed.
