So, I got linked this on the Beermoney sub. I signed up under the OP, so this is the extent of my knowledge.

Raisin is an online bank originating in Germany, evolving from SavingGlobal/WeltSparen. There are no fees/costs, and they are in pre-launch.

They're getting ready to launch in Europe "within the next few weeks".

They're offering 25 Euros free to those who sign up early, which you'll receive when the bank becomes available in your area. They'll also give you an extra 1 Euro to those who preregister under your referral link (maximum of 20 people), 5 Euros per referral who creates an account (maximum 10 people), and another 20 Euros for those who sign up for a Term Deposit Account.

Note that you'll need a Raisin bank account to get the Euros. I think. Or one with a partner-bank linked to them?

I e-mailed their customer service desk and received a reply within an hour:

"Dear [name blanked],

Thank you for your email.

Raisin will indeed be available for those living in the United Kingdom. We are preparing our European platform to go live within the next few weeks.

In regard to the "refer a friend" programme, you are welcome to refer anyone permanently resinding within the European Union or EEA with the exception of Germany, Austria or Belgium.

If the person concerned, permanetly resides outside of the afore-mentioned areas, they will not be able to become a customer with Raisin.

Please advise, in case anything is unclear.

Kind regards,

Your Raisin Customer Service Team"

Their interest rates are also pretty generous:

"1.5% for 1 year

2.0% for 3 years

2.5% for 5 years

These are just some of the attractive term deposit offers that will become available on our platform in the next few weeks."

As this appears to be a genuine bank, false-information and VPNs and the like would be a bad idea, methinks.

"If you do not want to be updated, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on this link. Your friends' data will automatically be deleted if they do not confirm the pre-registration. Your collected points will automatically be converted into euros based on the above conversion table 3 months after the launch of our European platform. They will be paid out to your Raisin Account if you have become an active Raisin customer i.e. opened a Raisin Account and invested in at least 1 term deposit with one of our partner banks. Only residents of the EU, EEA or Switzerland that are at least 18 years old are eligible for this program and can become customers. For further details on the Terms & Conditions of our referral program please click here."

Dunno about ya'll, but I'll probably be opening an account. :)

I'm thinking about dumping the Euros given into something like Recyclix -- combined with the 20 Euros that were given for free during their promotional period, you'd be cycling off 45 Euros' worth of profit per month, which can add up. :)
