Alright. I'm writing this assuming that everyone reading this is familiar with the existence of TikTok.
If you have not yet joined TikTok, consider using someone's referral code/link from the comments below. Each referral you gain will earn you 1000 points ($5 value).
So now that everyone has TikTok installed, let's talk about TikTok Rewards.
TikTok Rewards Explained
To access TikTok rewards, go to "me" in the bottom right, and then tap on the blueish star in the top left. Alternatively you can search "Rewards" in the discover tab.
EDIT to clarify: If you don't see the star, search "rewards" in discover. After this you should find the star on your profile.
Referral Earnings
TikTok Rewards is primarily a referral program for the popular social media app, TikTok.
As explained briefly above, you can earn 1000 points for each person you get to download the app using your code or link, which in theory can be redeemed for $5 worth of gift cards.
Interestingly, for me to find my invite code, I need to tap on a gift card and then my invite code and alternate earning methods will appear on that page. Not sure why.
Daily Earnings
The real value outside of referring your friends can be obained through three simple daily tasks that should realistically take you less than 30 seconds.
- 100 Points: Shoot and publish a video. Don't think too hard on this one.
- 10 Points: Like a video. Also don't think too hard on this one.
- 10 Points: Share current campaign homepage. Literally tap the button and go back and you'll earn 10 points.
Doing these three tasks every day will net you 120 points ($0.60), or 840 points/week, or $4.20 each week (nice).
Despite spending 4 hours a day on TikTok, I am able to max out my rewards for the day in just 30 seconds.
Cashing Out
Cashing out on TikTok rewards reminds me a lot of Yahoo Play's redemption process. You probably have enough points to afford a reward, but there's probably no rewards available.
There's no restock schedule for the gift cards and 99% of the time, even if a reward doesn't say it is sold out, it actually is. Interestingly, the hardest part of TikTok rewards is actually cashing out your points. I got lucky enough to get a $10 Ulta GC and a $5 Target GC, but as of right now everything is sold out.
The difference between TikTok and Yahoo Rewards is, however, that TikTok has the infrastrucutre and reach that will allow for it to get more brand deals. For example, they had a promo for 25% off Spirit Halloween back in October, as well as up to $15 worth of movie tickets from Atom (which was an amazing deal btw), so there's a chance that they might actually continue to add deals like this that are more generally able to be redeemed for.
Conclusion
Aside from the difficulty to redeem your points, TikTok Rewards is really great. I can't picture it becoming easier to redeem for gift cards any time soon, which is unfortunate, but I think it's absolutely worth the time each day to earn up.
Again, if you have not downloaded TikTok yet, I'd highly recommend using someone's referral code below (feel free to start a train!). Alternatively there are multiple users paying for signups on /r/signupsforpay.
