I'm trying to figure out if the way a beer is packages affects its taste. I've already done research on this, and any evidence supporting any theory seems nonexistent. Some suggest that the fact that the mouth touches the container changes taste; a mouth touching an aluminum can gives the beer a metallic taste. But these are just baseless theories.
I want to know if there is scientific evidence that says it either does or does not affect taste. I'm also trying to figure out if beer packaged in a bottle or can has a pyschological affect on a taste, as higher-quality brews are more often placed in glass bottles, thus making the beer taste better. But does a beer placed in both, such as Bud Light, taste different in each of the two containers? If so, why do bottles and cans typically cost the same?
I will continue my quest for this knowledge by consuming various sources of beer; I hope an answer is revealed before I suffer from alcohol poisoning.
