I've got Christmas knocked out, so I'm moving on to planning for Valentines, and I could use some help.
My wife loves Imperial Stouts. To date, her favorite is Mephistopheles, with Parabola in second place.
Beneath that are things like Stone's Xocoveza or IRS, Speedway Stout, Yeti, Narwhal, etc. Real keen on the dark and heavy.
Anyways, I'm hoping to collect a sixpack or two of beers of the same or better caliber as Parabola and particularly, Mephistopheles by February. That said, I don't know what else comes close, as those are of course specialty beers.
So here's my question: What would you consider to be the best, richest, deepest, stouts out there? I'm in SoCal, but I expect I'll need to trade for some of this, so don't feel particularly limited regionally.
Thanks!
