Notifications on Android

Switched from iPhone and am absolutely loving Beeper, it's great for iMessage and all the others (Telegram, messenger, RCS, Whatsapp, and IG messages are what I'm using) But I've never gotten notifications to work at all, I can get a bubble showing on the icon, but I don't get a sound on receipt nor do I see anything in notifications pull down or on my always on screen... any ideas?
