I would like to become Batman
Post Body

Hello all,

I am trying to format this best I can so sorry if it doesn't work out.

I just found this subreddit as I have become increasingly obsessed with Batman. I was, and still am, a big Marvel fan but more and more the concept of training to get better has been much more appealing than just having a super power. Due to this I have been leaning into Batman and also various anime shows as this is a prominent theme.

I have been physically active for as long as I can remember. I did track and cross country in high school and dabbled in weight lifting. In college I really fell in love with weight lifting and had the opportunity to dabble in Fencing, Judo and Boxing.

I developed a program that works for me that is kind of an amalgam of a lot of concepts I have learned. I have worked up to a 1180 lb (in gym) powerlifting total (405/315/460 S/B/DL). I made some more recent revisions to incorporate body weight training specifically in an attempt to do a planche. I can go into more detail about the program if anyone cares but disclaimer: I am not personal trainer and tailored it to work for me specifically.

Much more recently I found a Tae Kwon Do school near me and have been training there 2x a week in addition to my 4x a week weight training. I would have preferred Judo or Jujitsu as I believe they have more real world application but so far TKD has proven quite fun and is helping with my very much lacking agility and flexibility.

On the intellectual side I am a chemist by trade and have always been fairly adept at quick problem solving. I occasionally challenge myself to learn new skills such as juggling or rubiks cube as this helps increase brain plasticity and lowers the chances of mental deterioration. In that same vain I have gotten into Boardgaming which also involves learning new things and solving problems in unique situations, which I believe is quite valuable.

Obviously being Batman as he is written in the comics is impossible. But the concept of being a very well rounded person with few weaknesses and many strengths is what I am after.

On this mission I feel I am lacking weapons training and gymnastic ability so in the future I want to somehow incorporate these, but there is only so much time in a day I would have to take away from other types of training or at least make cycles in my training.

I love the idea of this sub and I think you guys would like the Bioneer on YouTube. I am not affiliated with him but he focuses on a holistic physical and mental fitness approach and has a few vids specifically about the Bat.
