I discussed SPF rating test below since most of these local brands labeled SPF are untested.
What are some of the local sunscreens you have tried?
I have personally tried The fairyskin and Belo sunscreen. The fairyskin is lightweight but gave me breakouts. The UV filters are pretty mid. The belo sunscreen I have also tried for quite a while but the UV filters is the same with fairyskin (avobenzone stabilized with another chemical UV filter and mixed with titanium dioxide). However i find that both of them are not protective enough, I tan easily using them daily without any long sun exposure. My hyperpigmentations also didnt fade quickly as compared to using a different sunscreen brand.
Edit: LOCAL SUNSCREENS SPF TEST
Fairyskin claimed they have two lab tested them, The bionest and the SGS. Both are legitimate laboratories in Taiwan, but I believe bionest is their supplier? However I believe both test were just in vitro (using only machines like UV spectro to determine absorbance of the UV filters on different wavelengths) and not on actual skin which of course sunscreens could react differently (uniform spreadability is important for protection). The ISO 24444:2019 is the test on actual skin but quite expensive. So i believe the labeled spf of fairyskin is accurate.
Belo I messaged them, and they said they constantly retest their sunscreen spf test (i believe in vitro). They have the same UV filter combo with fairyskin. I believe this UV filter combo is commercially available na as a premixed tapos these brands just formulate the vehicle of the sunscreen.
Noah I messaged Noah, and they said they are currently processing their SPF test to be conducted in Singapore. Which means their labeled SPF is untested.
