Rope and oils?

Hi. Im new to rope bondage. Ive read when treating rope jojoba oil or camella oil are good choices. I was wondering Would essential oils be safe to use on the rope? Provided your rope bottom and yourself arent allergic. I was hoping to rub some lavender essential oil on my ropes but I dont want to damage the ropes.
