Question for E Collar wearers

I have a metal e-collar that I've been wearing for close to 2 years maybe? I just recently got super into developing a skin care routine and have noticed the skin under my collar is darkened and rougher than the rest. I exfoliate it in the shower, my collar and neck get washed every day. IM VERY CLEAN. I just didnt notice the difference in skin until I started getting real serious and up close on it. 😄 Do any other 24/7 wearers experience this? Has anyone found any way to combat that? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Taking my collar off is obviously not an option. ❤️

(I have a stainless steel collar. It's very nice quality, and I've never had any other reaction to it)
