What’s aftercare?

Someone said that as your spanking someone after care is rubbing the spot…… I thought aftercare was after the spanking was done to rub coconut oil into the skin and cuddles after that….. or something to that extent…. I’ve never received aftercare so I’m genuinely curious as to what aftercare is…..
