I just finished entering in all the Alpha Strike cards I have. 1228 total, though I am missing 6 of the force packs from the latest Kickstarter as my order has not come in yet.
However, I wanted to point something out on these that maybe people are not noticing.
1. These cards are just beautiful to look at. Background, great colors, good font, just superb.
2. The color miniatures have MANY distinctive schemes on them. Complete with decals, numbers, phrases. I mean seriously, that is a lot of work and it was very impressive going through all of these. When I had the pilot cards, I knew what unit it was, but in many cases it was paint schemes that I just was not sure on what unit it was for. There are just THAT many unique schemes. Seriously, grab some and look real close.
3. I have all the original alpha strike packs and some 2016 gencon exclusives as well, so some of these cards go waaaaay back (8 years). I really figured they would be more error prone than they are.
4. The pilot cards are no less awesome.
I not only indexed the cards, I also put in all the numbers and compared them to the MUL. I have all the skills, pilot special abilities, and when possible I identified the unit the paint scheme was from. This blew through my whole 3 days weekend :(
Some numbers (and probably errors):
1228 total AS cards (plus 520 pilot cards!)
1 has the wrong armor points
9 have the wrong short range attack values
11 has the wrong medium range attack values
10 have the wrong long range attack values
81 have the wrong overheat values (this math was updated a lot since its initial release)
44 have the wrong roles (these were also updated)
228 have the wrong point values, some being off by quite a bit.
18 of the pilot named variants I found no exactly AS correlation, so they are not counted in errors
Here are the force packs I have not added yet, but will do as soon as I get that kickstarter:
Clan Cavalry
Clan Direct Fire
Inner Sphere Assault
Inner Sphere Heavy Recon
Rifle & Command
If you do play alpha strike (or its great counterpart battleforce!) and doing 1:1 matches make SURE you are double checking point values and the other stats based on the MUL if you are using these cards. There are some pretty glaring errors that could screw up balance. The error rate is not high and I could not find any official errata anywhere for these. Once I get everything I'll release an updated list.
It was just a lot of work, I came away very impressed, and I wanted to reinforce just how great these cards were to work with. They've come a long way since Quick Strike and Battleforce 2!
