Is this 18v BMS really have overdischarge protection?

Hi, I recently bought Makita battery on Ali. And after a few discharge cycles I couldn't recharge it at all. I opened the case and was surprised to see that all batteries were nearly 0 volts. I.e. practically dead. I wonder how could that have happened? Any ideas?
