I have tried all morning to find a way to safely get rid of 2 very small lithium batteries that have been damaged and inflated. No one in my state will accept them for recycling and the only other options available want either $90 for a mailer kit EACH to send them somewhere or $15 EACH to turn them into a battery store.
The combined total cost of these batteries is less than $5.00. Why would I pay orders of magnitude more to dispose of them?! This whole search for 'recycling' is nothing more than ridiculous suggestions, circular links between websites, and overcharging to get rid of them. It is almost as if it is nothing more than a way to generate revenue for the people who first thought of making the websites combined with a way to let municipalities claim they are 'Green'.
Is there anything I can do with these two batteries that will be safe and not cost me a shitload of money?
