Need advice

I have a cordless screwdriver that is my grandpa's favorite, but the batteries are toast and I would like to fix it up for him. It takes a 24v charger, but I was hoping there might be a lithium equivalent that might last longer. I know very little about these kinds of batteries, so any advice would be much appreciated.
