I’m rewatching Batman Forever and I always felt that this movie is the only one to do a somewhat grounded approach to Dick Grayson/Robin. Although I always hear the “he’s so old” complaint a lot, I looked up what his age was supposed to be in the movie and it’s generally between 16-19 years old. Chris O’Donnell really does not look over 20 years old in the movie. And as much as I’d love to see a live-action version of the 13 year old Robin, it’s not that big of a deal to make him older. No one ever had a problem with Dick Grayson being in his 20s in Batman the Animated Series.
I think this might be the best portrayal we’ll ever get of a grounded-ish Robin (forgetting B&R exists). Unless Matt Reeves decides to add Dick into his trilogy, Batman Forever might be the best we ever get.
