I was way too young in 1989 and in the army in 2008. From your memory, just how big were they?

I was also too young to see Batman 89 when it came out but I rented it on VHS frequently as a kid until I got it on DVD and I do own merchandise from it including the action figures and video games. I have caught it in theaters five times over the last 10 years though and it always feels like I’m watching it for the first time when I do. One good thing about being too young for all the hype was having no preconceived notions about Michael Keaton, which made it easier to buy him as Batman than a lot of older fans did at the time

I was 20 and in college when The Dark Knight came out and I was so blown away that I saw it four times that summer plus a 15th anniversary screening on my birthday a few months ago. Funny enough, I’ve worn a Keaton Batman tshirt every time I’ve seen it in theaters. Heath Ledger’s death and his performance certainly helped it and I remember his Joker being a popular Halloween costume that year. Christian Bale’s Batman OTOH was a target for mockery and derision due to his voice
