Just a thought I had the other day, but should the NL and AL be redesigned to be geographically based without divisions - kind of an east vs. west thing like the NBA? Then all the local rivalries would become more meaningful (Angels/Dodgers, Cubs/Sox, Mets/Yankees, A's/Giants, etc...) as opposed to ceremonial. Also, the expanded playoffs could be set to the top 6 or 8 teams by overall record seeding as opposed to division champs wild cards. I think it would be interesting idea to consider at the very least. Thoughts?
