So a while ago I made this post in /r/nfl, and figured I should do one with all the major sports during their offseason and not just football. Henceforth, I looked at teams based on how much of their nickname is typed by the right hand v. the left hand.

A slight decision had to be made when including the s. Since all 32 NFL team names end with an s, that meant I could simply ignore the S while counting and it wouldn't matter. However, with the other 3 major sports (NBA, NHL, and MLB), 9 teams don't end with an s. The two teams in MLB that do this are the Red Sox and White Sox. Strangely, these 2 end with a left-hand-typed letter, but for posterity's sake, I included all letters in this (and will for the other 2 posts, despite all 9 teams having a final letter on the left hand side of the qwerty keyboard).

Discussion

The Phillies dominate the right side of the keyboard, their own domain. 5 teams have a majority of their letters on the right side of a qwerty keyboard, but Philadelphia is the only one with more than 60% of them on the right side, coming in at 75%

The Diamondbacks just have a really long name. Tied for 2nd for most letters typed by the left hand AND the right hand. Must be exhausting being an Arizona fan on the internet.

The Royals and Blue Jays are split right down the middle, 50/50 on either side. The Blue Jays are extra special because both 2 right and 2 left letters are typed by each word.

The Brewers, Braves, and Reds are all over the left side of the keyboard. All 3 team names can be typed entirely with the left hand.

Even excluding the final S, no MLB team name can be typed with just the right hand (in the NFL, the Lions are the only team that can be typed with just the right hand).
