No, all the plays are the ones a shirt stop should make I.e the ones to him, the balls that are a step and a dive as we would say in college. We just watched a pro short stop not be able to do that and if a shortstop can’t make the plays we just saw Lux struggle with he can’t play the position. Even if the dodgers hit that shit out of the all of your shirt stop can’t make routine plays you are dead and that’s what I meant. Not trying to get everyone all hot and bothered. I know jeter didnt have rey ordonez or arod range but he made the plays needed that’s all.
I guess we can agree to disagree. those teams weren’t great defensively and I say this as a yanks fan. Up the middle it was posada ( gritty played everyday), jeter ( I’ve heard he was shit my entire life at short) and Bernie Williams who in my opinion was gifted gold gloves but it didn’t seem to matter because they all made plays when it mattered. So what I was trying to say is I think how defensive metrics are perceived is flawed because those three were good enough at the 3 most important positions to win on a regular basis.
Jeter didn’t have great range but made all the plays a starting short stop needed. I think defensive metrics are a bit skewed, in most cases if a guy can make the routine play with a bit of range you will be fine with that player.

Frankly I don’t get as in depth on the numbers like you do your’re right. I guess it shows if you hit it doesn’t matter if you really stink in the field.
