Police were called on a group that had just left our bar after a fight broke out. The security and I got it all stopped and let parties know that police were on the way and everyone cleared out. Though it was intense and a few punches were thrown, it was mostly strong words from idiots and no real damage was done (aside from torn pants) and a few scrapes.
About 20 minutes later the police show up, everyone having left about 10 minutes prior. As i was chatting with the cops, a few patrons come outside to wait for the cab when one of the ladies yells "FUCK THE POLICE" a few feet away from the cops. We all kind of stop and look, dumbfounded that she would do this. I tried to step in and tell her to just wait for her taxi, or she'lll be taking a different ride tonight and she continues on a rant about how the police are terrible and racist, and she's a social worker and BLM, etc etc. (Note, the 2 ladies were of African descent - but all the police were also people of color East Indian Descent).
All the officers maintained their cool as she ranted at them, all the time her friend trying to calm her down and me hoping the taxi would show up sooner. As her friend gave the countdown for the taxi (5 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute) it seemed to trigger her to take more action, and she actually SPIT on an officer. At that point, they fulfilled her wish of arresting her (which she had shouted about 20 times over the few minutes she was out there). Not only did she get her wish of being arrested, now her friend, whose birthday it was, was left stranded because she'd originally agreed to pay for the taxi. I gave the taxi driver enough money to get her home (my good deed for the day) and filled out an incident report, and have now FINALLY gotten home at 5:45 in the morning.
I fully support BLM, and know that systemic racism exists and regardless of the race of police there are certain groups more targeted than others, and that do heavier sentences for the same crime. That said, viciously yelling "FUCK THE POLICE" and spitting on another human being is not the way to get your point across.
TL;DR - Cops turn up for minor incident and end up arresting a person not involved with that incident after she yells Fuck The Police and spits on one of the officers.
