Our bar opened a few months ago in an older building and we knew that the building owner was going to be doing a few renos soon, but we were told it would be coordinated to be as smooth as possible. We are closed on Mondays, so I was pretty surprised to walk into the building and hear power tools going.
In addition to LOOKING like a construction zone at our front door, our entire service area and kitchen was covered with a fine layer of sawdust. After calling the owner of the bar to fill him in on what the owner of the building was doing we got to cleaning as much as possible to hopefully get the doors open.
Of course, had we been told of the renos we could have covered everything in plastic and only needed 2 hours of cleaning to get up and running. Nope. 5 hours later and every glass is through the dishwasher. Every surface is scrubbed. Kitchen fryers emptied and cleaned. EVERYTHING.
Just after opening the bar (at the owners insistence) the kitchen crew comes in to let me know - my car window was smashed, because of course it was. So now I have a $200 expense for the day and sawdust in my sinuses for....5 whole customers (and a whopping $20 in tips)
I recently started keto, and have been doing fasting as well with Tuesdays being my fast day. While I've mostly cut out alcohol - I think I deserve a drink today. No carbs in scotch, right?
