I guess I just wanted to get this off my chest. I work at a poorly run dive bar that has no management, a rich owner who has his hand in way too many baskets to run things right and I am the only male.
I worked my way up from cook, to cook/ bareback, to cook/barback/bartender, to just bartending. This took about two years. I am the only male bartender who's ever worked there. I'm also the only one who had to work my way up.
The thing is when I started I made five dollars an hour under the table. I had made poor life decisions and was just trying to get my feet on solid ground. I now make seven an hour on paper. In eight hours are usually make at least eighteen an hour. Good nights fifty plus an hour.
Not sure really what my point was when I started writing this because texting from my phone has taken me forever to get this far. I guess it is just interesting to read theae posts. And see the different kinds of bartenders there are. I don't know half of what some of you are talking about But I do know my job isn't easy and it can be mentally and emotionally exhausting. Sometimes I feel like I am herding cats.
Anyways just want to say I enjoy this forum and I ain't shit.
