So, I posted a link earlier with a tik tok I made earlier explaining everything, but it got bad reception, so Iām making this post here.
I worked at 787 Coffee in nyc (w15th Chelsea). Iāve been working there since October. Iām a fairly new barista, Iām also a trans man who happens to be neurodivergent. Usually this doesnāt matter at all, but Iām pretty sure the reason I got fired is cause of one of these.
They had me work from 6:45 till 12:30 this morning, then had me meet them at a different cafe. They told me that I havenāt been doing well with selling coffee bags ($42 coffee bags) and that I wasnāt taking enough pictures of customers. The company was not interested in having me anymore, they said.
The person who fired me, who has been threatening to fire me for a long time, said to me, āhereās some advice for you, from one person to another: donāt be afraid to make mistakes.ā Whichā¦Idek Iām just flabbergasted.
I was planning on moving into a new apartment on March 1st, but now I canāt. Iāve also been applying to jobs for a couple months now, but only gotten as far as an interview. I use the nyc cafe jobs website, so please donāt immediately say āyou shouldāve gotten another job, itās your fault.ā
This company also is known for firing trans people and other minorities.
