Last week, I found out I passed the Bar Exam. However, on paper, I was "that student" that everyone expected - including my school - to fail. I finished my first year of law school in the bottom 20%. Out of 348 students, I was ranked at #308. I had a C- and 2 C s on my transcript. I had to retake a class and lost my scholarship. My GPA was a 2.47. I didn't have bad grades because I was lazy or had poor study habits. In fact, I was consistently the first one in the library, and one of the last ones out. Despite the hard work and dedication, however, I simply could not understand how the hell to understand this material, and it showed on my finals.
While my grades got better my last two years, I still received a B-, and it was actually in Pre-Bar. My school's academic scucess program basically hinted at the idea that I would have to retake the bar due to my grades and the correlation between my GPA and bar passage statistics. I went through all of law school thinking I was going to fail the bar the first try.
I graduated at the bottom of the class, despite working my ass off. Between my grades being as shit as they were and my school treating me as if I was some delinquent, I went through bar prep absolutely sure that I was failing this test. I walked out of the exam and I couldn't help but laugh because I was so sure that, yet again, my hard work didn't pay off and I failed the shit out of that test.
However, I passed, by a good amount, and YOU CAN, AND WILL, TOO. For those in a situation similar to the one that I had, please do not let your law school experience define you, and just know that you can pass this pointless exam. And for those that did well in law school, amazing! If I passed, then you absolutely will as well.
I hope this gives some hope to you all still waiting to hear back from the bar, or those that need to retake. This test fucking SUCKS and I can't wait for you all to feel the feeling I've had since finding out that I passed. Good luck everyone, and congratulations to those who passed as well!
P.S. abolish the bar
